Trade and Investment Facilitation and Promotion

BIMP-EAGA wants to lower barriers to trade and investment to boost cross-border trade and create a good investment environment.

Transport

To become fully integrated, BIMP-EAGA needs an efficient and secure transport network that seamlessly moves goods and people within and across borders. Interconnecting the subregion by land, air, and water also opens livelihood opportunities in rural communities and improve their access to services.

What is Vision 2025?

Since its creation in 1994, BIMP-EAGA has been a highly effective mechanism for member countries to accelerate social and economic development in remote and less developed areas. 

Now, as new trends and challenges emerge both regionally and globally, the organization has drawn up a blueprint for keeping itself relevant, going forward. It aspires to become resilient, inclusive, sustainable, and economically competitive.

BIMP-EAGA harbors a vast array of species, including a significant portion of the world's terrestrial and marine biodiversity.

Countries in BIMP-EAGA are working together to promote the subregion as a premier single tourism destination. The subregion is home to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Lorentz National Park in Papua; Mt.

Enhancing connectivity will make it easier and faster to travel within and outside BIMP-EAGA, improve the flow of goods and services, create a conducive business climate, and raise the quality of life of local communities. 

Food Basket Pillar

Establishing BIMP-EAGA as a food basket in ASEAN and the rest of Asia entails integrating the agro-industry and fisheries sectors and developing supply and value chains throughout the subregion.
